Power Cuts Harm South African Factory Output

The Pound Sterling to South African Rand exchange rate firmed to a session high of 18.2660 on Tuesday as the UK markets re-opened following the bank holiday weekend and as domestic data out of Africa’s most developed economy weighed upon the Rand. Ongoing worries over electricity supplies, civil unrest and a weakening economy also continued to put pressure on the South African Rand.

The main cause for the decline in manufacturing activity was blamed on the amount of power cuts being implemented by utility company Eskom. With South Africa’s power grid under immense strain, the power company has been forced to introduce load shedding and rolling black outs. With winter coming in the southern hemisphere, demand for electricity is set to increase.

The South African Rand is expected to remain under pressure against its major peers as concerns over anticipated strikes in the gold mining and public sectors look set to increase.

Career Politicians should be on Minimum Wage?

Sadly we are all looking at mortal men, these are no warriors, no victors or champions. These friends are mere career politicians looking for a good job and you are the employer.

Millions of people …and yet we have so few choices for a decent candidate. Good Candidates are like gold-dust, for now we seem to base our choices on the “lesser of evils.”

Is it possible that there will never be a political party or candidate to that of Napoleon, Shaka Zulu or Lord Nelson? There are few occasions in epoch we did have the hero leader, Nelson Mandela or Aung San Suu Kyi who have both earned their titles for sacrifices they have paid for their people. Yet our Politicians want their payment for the promises…and what of our renegades?

Our politicians can somewhat be mythicised by the media for nothing to which can be accredited merely being famous and believing in them like they were god-sent. Recent saga is of Mr Obama- everyone loved him – not because of anything he had done, but merely for the fact that he was able to articulate or in other words, being a better salesman with promises to sell but reality shows that polls reveal he is not the Messiah we have been looking for? So everyone is on the search again?

We have become fascinated with what gives us goose bumps rather than what makes sense…No Taxes!! And everyone says, YEAH!!! But it makes no sense? Popularity and celebrity status appear to be worth more to the voters than their future. It’s as if we want to be deceived and bluffed all sorts. The Liberal Democrat leader; Nick Clegg initially focusing on students votes promising low tuition fees in fact when the Liberals did have their opportunity in power- his party caused the fees to rocket (much higher than inflation).

Sadly we are all looking at men just men, these are no warriors, no victors nor champions. These friends are mere mortals looking for a career opportunity, a good job that pays sufficiently to be creative inventors of promises and you are the employer.

Just maybe we should not try employing any of them or put them all on minimum wage? Just a thought?

Stop & Search in South Africa (ILLEGALLY)

These actions to foreigners affect our civil liberties in the long term, erode the rights to our freedoms and destroy our democracy!

How would you have reacted if your property was raided and then you were forced to prove your right to residency? What would happen if a member of your family were unable to do so? How would you feel – if they were arrested?

The Constitution clearly forbids arbitrary search and seizure of your person, your property or possessions. If you are stopped by law enforcement officials they must have a valid belief that you may have been involved in the commission of a crime and that a search warrant would be issued by a Magistrate or Judge if they wish to search you or your vehicle and/or seize your possessions not providing you with these formalities would be a violation of your rights.

Despite South Africa’s painful memories of the Dompass- you think that the officials would be sympathetic given the history on restraining one freedoms based upon their status.

Yet recent news reports mention of the increasing number foreigners in South Africa are being stopped and searched. According to reports approximately 50 people were arrested in Johannesburg for being without valid documents in the country.

The statement release by the spokesman makes no mention that these arrests of these individuals were illegally or not. They were arrested for not having been able to show their documentation.

The raids are a result of foreigners arming themselves in preparation for further violence. The legitimacy of these raids have become questionable.

These actions to foreigners affect our civil liberties, erode the rights to our freedoms and destroy our democracy!

The True aborigines of South Africa

…is it not also true that no one particular ethic group owns South Africa and that they all are foreigners?

How amazing is it that an invisible boundary-line can separate race, culture and tribe. In the name for these identities, people are willing to kill, steal and destroy each other so to covet, expand and protect what they believe belongs to them.

The history of South Africa is characterised by racial violence, territorial conflict, wars of conquest, and inter-ethnic rivalry.

The San have lived in the region for millennia acquired domestic stock in what is now modern day Botswana. Their population grew, and spread throughout the Western half of South Africa. They were the first pastoralists in southern Africa, and called themselves Khoikhoi, which means ‘men of men’ or ‘the real people’. This name was chosen to show pride in their past and culture.

Most of the rest of the population, however, trace their history to immigration since.

Indigenous Africans in South Africa are descendants of Khoikhoi and Bantu immigrants from further north in Africa, who first entered what are now the confines of the country.

White South Africans are descendants of later European settlers, mainly from the Netherlands and Britain.

The Coloureds are descended at least in part from all of these groups, as well as from slaves from Madagascar, East Africa and the then East Indies.

There are many South Africans of Indian and Chinese origin, descendants of labourers who arrived in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

On a crisp, clear morning 100 years ago, thousands of British, Belgian and French soldiers put down their rifles, stepped out of their trenches and spent Christmas mingling with their German enemies along the Western front. In the hundred years since, the event has been seen as a kind of miracle, a rare moment of peace just a few months into a war that would eventually claim over 15 million lives.

I’m of Indian descendants, born in South Africa and reside in the United Kingdom. Most especially I’m born on earth and belong to the species of the human race. However my passport tells me otherwise as I’m an alien to foreign countries.

But is it not also true that no one particular ethic group owns South Africa and that they all are foreigners?

To the murderers of South Africa

Please come to your senses, your father paid a price for you to be free and therefore use your freedom responsibly. We understand your plight and will ask you once again, please throw your weapons into the sea, so you can see the horizon of a better day.

It was Madiba who said, “As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn’t leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I’d still be in prison.”
We understand that you must be raged by the Dutch, English, Boers and just about everyone who comes to your lands unannounced, to plunder your goods and eat of your food without your consent. This is indeed disrespectful and a violation of your hospitality. Years of abuse under an oppressive government -depriving you of basic benefits which would have made you a better person had left you now in a state of void which bitterness and hatred fills.

You are the children of slaves, servants- the Dompass carriers. Names associated with stupidity and the shamefulness to the colour of your skin has caused you to be the animal you are?
You are now restless, homeless, hopeless and loveless. It’s your turn to take what belongs to you and everyone says its wrong. Its your turn to protect which had being stolen for so long and they say its wrong.

You now have a different name to which is associated to insanity. It was alright when your fathers was beaten, insulted and your wives and daughters raped. One can’t imagine the anguish and pain you must go through to beat a person whether be child, women or man to semi-unconscience state and place a tyre upon them and setting it alight only to watch them awaken and seeing themselves burn. The screams of pleas and begging of sparring their lives makes you the god of the era now has the power of life and dead is in your hands.

Your political ideologies and justification will not silence the cries from which your brothers blood also calls revenge. The Bantu nation is a fearless and courageous nation, they are strong and enduring. God has sparred you to tell of your fathers struggles- there is no further cause of another cycle of bloodshed.
We hear you…you were hungry and no one gave you to eat, you where thirsty and no one gave you to drink, you were homeless and no one took you in…So Mr Murderer has food, water and a house has lost its taste to that of the flesh and blood of your brother?
Please come to your senses, your father paid a price for you to be free and therefore use your freedom responsibly. We understand your plight and will ask you once again, please throw your weapons into the sea, so you can see the horizon of a better day.
