Now, I am not a historian but of recent I watched the Netflix documentary of Adolf Hitler and was startled of the similarities of some of the rhetoric spewed out and the extremists posing as liberators.
The rise of Hitler was born out of a great hatred of the Jewish people in Germany. They had their own culture and was successful enough to gain a great market share of the wealth. They didn’t steal it nor did they murder for it – they merely learnt the economic system and flourished. This however believed to have been vile in Hitler’s moral compass as he believed that Germany was the land of the Germans and should not be beneficial to anyone but those looking like the Germans (blue eyes and blond hair).
Likewise the ignorance of such stupidities are sadly taking root and just as it did in Hitler’s day in South Africa. There is a phrase I once heard that “Africa is for the Africans” (that implying only Black Africans). Despite your place of birth, South Africa has and is openly discriminating its citizens based upon their racial ethnicity.
There are vocal groups of wanna-be freedom fighters who have never suffered the hardships to the likes of Mandela or Joe Slovo, yet they are willing to make claims of land grabs as a method of making right that which the sixteen hundred settled had stolen.
The cost of living in Hitler’s day was extortionate as people were said to have paid for bread with filled wheelbarrows of money. We may not be there yet – but due to the mismanagement of funds and allegations of corruptions South Africa is heading there, for the cost of living far exceeds the renumeration and so are the high unemployment rate which is creating an envious circumstance where some who don’t have, steal.
Now Hitler was particularly notorious for killing 6 million Jews through torturous methods, and to that the Afrikaner Boer or Farmer has become the victim liken the enemy of Nazi Germany. Only difference is that unlike the business elite and traders, these farmers are the “hand we feed” South Africa. Yet again another minority suffers in silence whilst we all say it’s not my battle…sadly George Orwell in Animal Farm clearly portrays that some animals are higher than others and when “they” are done with the “Boer” they will come for you too…
Stand up, speak up?
